Aliza is a postural yoga and advanced MELT Method teacher who offers private sessions and classes currently on Zoom, and will return to teaching in her Berkeley home studio as well as YogaWorks Larkspur and Bay Club Marin once it is safe to do so. As a Certified Yoga Therapist, Aliza began teaching yoga while managing the rehabilitation center of a renowned chiropractic orthopedist (2000-2004) and received ongoing training in core strength, physical therapy exercises and traction techniques. Ongoing studies in Yoga and Yoga Therapeutics led her to senior Iyengar Yoga teachers in the U.S. and India.

Yet, it was not until 2012, when Aliza discovered MELT, that she was empowered to release the pain she had experienced in her neck and low back for over 20 years. Wanting to delve more deeply into this healing therapeutic technique, she received advanced training in MELT NeuroStrength (Performance) in the summers of 2014 and 2018 with Sue Hitzmann. Her 40 years of committed practice in mindful movement infuse her teaching with a depth of knowledge in focused breathing, structure and alignment to help facilitate healing, prevent injury and maintain joyful embodiment.

I honestly can't tell you what a pleasure it was to work with you yesterday, I'm habitually trying to remind myself of the small changes to do as I move along in my work day. I was so relaxed and rejuvenated after our time together and I'm so thankful to have met with you.  ~Silvana

Great class today--really got deep and profound.  My shoulders are starting to learn not to be so guarded--but it's deeply ingrained.  Many thanks for your patience as a teacher. You put the FUN in fundamental! ~Ted

Read an article in NY Times Magazine several weeks ago about the risks of injury from yoga practice. One of the many things that I appreciate about you is that you are aware of each student's limitations and assist us to adapt the practice to our bodies so that we can prevent injuries. Namaste. ~Roberta

Forever grateful you renewed my interest in classes, and strengthen my love of yoga, and last but not least, changed the way I was using my body, and freed me of the pains and spams I had been having for years! ~ Sylvie
