The expression “practice makes perfect” denies one basic fact: if you practice yoga without a mind towards alignment, you will get better at creating compensations and deepen muscular imbalances, all of which can lead to injury and pain. Let's rephrase to say: "Conscious practice makes perfect."  Yoga arises from its root - Yug, which means to harness. Together, we will harness the power and ease of natural, focused breath, learn to center our joints to create balanced action, and age with grace, strength, and comfort.

In the spirit of telling you the good stuff, not just the aches and pains ... I woke up with a strong migraine this morning. In the afternoon, although I felt like checking out, I did about 45 minutes of yoga and MELT... regular stuff, roller, breathing. As I rolled up my mat, I realized my headache was completely gone. I recaptured the day and had a lovely afternoon and evening. For me, to have a headache dissipate like that verges on miraculous. I have to thank you for giving me such a tool. ~Deborah
